Anyway here's an attempt at writing this very outdated blog, so what's been going down, we've done two official shows and one very unofficial show since our last blog. We played another Birthday party and this particular party had so much liquor going down, let's just say a good time was had by all. Hahaha. The venue was someone's house yet I could have sworn it was an up market cocktail lounge or something. There was a fancy bar area serving, every drink imaginable from beer, to expensive whiskey and any cocktail your heart desired.
We ended up going .. ETC, which is one of Bangkok's biggest pop bands, there must have been like over 100 people there and they were loving the well put together, combination of pop, r and b and jazz, so let's just say being a ska/punk band who is used to playing dingy venues, we felt a little overwhelmed and really had no idea what to expect. Luckily enough by the time we went on most of the crowd had left and the people who were there were drunk out of their minds so they ate up what we had to dish out.
The next show after that was on Friday the 28th of September at another super laanie, venue. It was called Nangkwak Cityscape Bar & Bistro and it was a roof top venue that mainly aristocrats and upper crust sort of types would frequent. It was a private party type vibe for Heineken and there was more free beer there then Sukhumvit Road has dust particles in the air, so we decided to stock up our bags and take some drinks home with us. We played with Over Me again, damn these guys are good! By far the best band of the night, the singer is a genius and they happen to be really cool people as well, I wouldn't be surprised if these guys and gal became the next big thing out of Thailand. We also played with some indie rock band, the singer/guitarist looks like he stole his 10 year sister's jeans when he walked out the house, but it was pretty funny seeing him drunk as a hobo later on, falling all over the place, eventually I saw him lying by all the equipment after our show, he woke up and all he could say in broken English was "velly cool show" yar right he didn't even watch it he was passed out.The show was super fun and probably our best attended performance so far, so we were very happy with how it went down.
We spent the rest of the night drinking like kings; we all downed a really large Long Island Ice Tea in a drinking comp and beat like 10 girls hahah. We got a bottle of wine for our efforts. We tried our utmost to turn the party on its head and we seemed to succeed, we ended up being the last people to leave and if it wasn't for our manager Pradon screaming at us and the French girls we were partying with, we probably would have been asked to leave. I remember stealing someone's scarf and then as I was getting into the car Pradon was like, "Matt give that scarf back to that girl who is front of you" I apologised gave it back and sheepishly then got in the car.
We had been keeping it on the lowdown as a band, yet we had been getting some cool offers for gigs. We managed to hook up a show at Tokyo Joe's, Bangkok's most well known Blues Bar. The owner looks like someone out of Mad Max, like a really old school biker or something. Behind the scary exterior he seems to be a really nice guy and he gave us some handy advice on top of a good paying show.
Last Thursday we were out at RCA, just doing some promotion handing out copies of our album and we went into Overtone one of Bangkok's most respected live venues for a beer. I noticed the beers were pretty steep so I went out to 7/11 for a good ol 30 Baht tall boy. Badger and Haydn had been drinking all night and were liquored to the max. 10 minutes later I'm sitting on the pavement eating peanuts and enjoying my cheap beer as Badger runs up to me and says, "hey man come quick we about to play a show at Overtone" Pradon asked the owner and he said get them up. So I ran back into the venue and we were suddenly on stage about to play a gig to a fairly decent sized audience at one of Bangkok's best live venues hahahah, imagine that.
So we did two songs, and they wanted some more so we did a few more, then after we finished playing, we got off stage except for Haydn. He was so drunk I'm still wondering how he managed to stand let alone play a show. He then proceeded to play a solo song about Pradon and how he wanted to have gay sex with him, it went something a long the line of "Pradon I love you so damn much, so you better get some condoms so I can have sex with you blalallala. Hahaha".
Well whatever it was the owner Agarn Prart, seemed to like what he heard and we got invited back for another show there on the 20th of December with some other cool Reggae band, so we are stoked. So here's our schedule for next weekend if you want to catch us live:
